It also elevates liver function, kidney function, relieves inflammation, and purifies blood vessels.
The Moringa tree, takes about eight months to bloom, and they germinate easily from seeds, saplings, or cuttings. They can even grow in poor soil and requires less labor and effort than other trees. To grow a Moringa tree from a cutting, certain steps should be followed. Just after the trees stop producing fruits, branches of the tree need to be cut-off so that fresh trees can grow out of it. These branches need to be in good shape for growing new trees. The detailed process of growing these trees from a cutting follow below.
Firstly, make a cutting at least six feet long. Then, dig a hole about 3 feet deep. Smoothly place the cutting in the hole and fill the hole with a mixture of decomposed manure, soil, sand and water. Make a slight dome, sloping away from the cutting, so that water does not touch the stem of the brand new tree. Lastly, water the tree carefully, and do not drown the cutting.
There are separate ways of growing the Moringa tree from seeds. The Moringa trees do not have any dormancy period and can be planted immediately as they mature. It is not wise to transplant the seedling, hence the seeds should be planted where the tree is intended to grow.
The detailed steps of growing a Moringa tree from a plant are as follows;
Firstly, select an area with sandy and light soil, not water-logged soil. Dig holes of about 1 feet deep. Then, fill the holes with soil and manure. Then, plant about 5 seeds in each hole. Watering the seeds every day is very necessary However, over-watering will drown them. Within two weeks, the seeds will start germinating. One should also tie the saplings to a stick so that they do not fall over. Protecting them against termites and rodents is very important.
Moringa is a multi-purpose, effective, beneficial tree. It can be used to treat numerous diseases. The ointment prepared from its leaves can be used to heal skin infections, rashes, acne, and minor burns. The powder, that is extracted from the tree can be stashed away in the cupboard for many years, and yet, it will retain all its nutrients. The pure powdered leaf can be consumed to treat urine infections, bladder problems, and kidney disorders. The Moringa tree, is also extensively used for aroma therapy. It is being used to heal body aches, joint pain, inflammation, sprains, etc.
The growth process of the moringa tree is also very simple. It takes only about 8 months to bloom and around 2 years to mature fully. It does not need to be tended too much. Watering it regularly, giving it proper exposure to air and sunlight, using adequate fertilizers and adding good quantities of decomposed manure, is enough for the plant to grow rapidly. One of its specific requites is that it only grows in hot and humid regions like Africa, South America, and Asia. The plant is native to India, and grows extensively there.
Scientists from all over the world are astounded at its marvels. They are astonished to see the numerous benefits this tree bears. The Moringa tree’s extracted products are easily available in the marketplace. They can be bought from most health or organic food store. They are also available in the health food section of many supermarkets.
In case it’s not possible to plant the seeds directly in the ground, then it can be planted in plastic bags. To follow this process follow the steps below.
- Fill the plastic bags with a mixture of soil and sand(three parts soil and one part sand)
- Plant around three seeds in each bag
- Keep the bags in a moist not wet condition. Almost, within two weeks, germination will occur. The saplings can be transplanted after six months when they are about 2-3 feet high. One must take utmost care during the transplantation process. If the process is done wrong then the saplings will start choking. The process of transplantation is as follows;
- Dig a hole about 1 foot deep. Fill it with loose soil (a mixture of soil and sand). Add decomposed manure to it. Water these holes a day before transplantation. Plant the seeds the next day and avoiding too much sunlight. Carefully place the sapling in the hole but take care not to remove the soil around the sapling’s roots. Place soil over the base of the sapling and water the plant gently. It’s always better to tie the sapling to a stick for support. Use adequate fertilizers to keep insects and termites away.
